Law enforcement investigated a three-vehicle crash that left one vehicle on fire in McAllen, but there were no injuries reported.
The Incident occurred at approximately 9:31 a.m. October 14, at the intersection of Depot Road and State Highway 107.
McAllen Fire Chief Juan Angel Gloria told reporters there were no injuries related to the fire, though two people involved in the crash opted to get checked at a local hospital “but nothing of concern.”
Should I get a medical exam after a “minor accident?”
Yes, you should get a checkup after any car accident, even if you don’t have any visible injuries.
A medical exam can help you in many ways. Most importantly, getting immediate medical attention can detect an injury that is not readily apparent. Early treatment can help with your recovery.
It can protect your legal rights, because a prompt diagnosis can help you recover compensation for your injuries.
Lastly, a medical exam immediately after a crash creates a record of your injuries. Keeping detailed records is one of the best things you can do to bolster a personal injury claim.
What tests should I have done?
Some tests that might be performed after a car accident include:
- X-rays. X-rays can help identify broken bones, dislocations, and other skeletal abnormalities
- CT scans. CT scans can help check for organ injuries, bone fractures, and internal bleeding
- MRI scans. An MRI can help identify soft tissue injuries and occult fractures in the neck and back
- Neurological exams. A complete check of your nervous system can help test mental status, motor skills, balance, and coordination
- Electro diagnostic test. This painless exam uses sound waves to create images of the nerves and surrounding tissues that can be studied by a physician to assess the health of muscles and the functioning of the peripheral nervous system.
