Defining Similar Car Crashes

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), in 2019, roughly 20 percent of car and truck accidents that ran off the road and crashed into a stationary object ended in fatalities.

Stationary objects could mean:

  • Trees
  • Guardrails
  • Utility Poles
  • Traffic Barriers
  • Fences
  • Buildings

These kinds of accidents can happen for a variety of reasons, even if it was a single-vehicle crash:

  • Intoxication
  • Reckless Driving (e.g. Speeding)
  • Fatigued or Distracted Driving
  • Adverse Weather Conditions
  • Poorly Maintained Roads
  • Defective Car or Truck Parts
  • Other Negligent Drivers

These types of car accidents usually injure drivers in the following ways:

  • Neck, Back, and Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Leg, Hips, and Knee Injuries
  • Soft Tissue Injury
  • Cuts, Scratches, and Bruises
  • Broken Bones
  • Amputation
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Wrongful Death
