Driving safely should be a concern for all motorists, especially those with children. It comes as second nature for most parents to always be on the lookout for their little ones. Oftentimes, however, there are forces beyond our control that can put those that we love most in harm’s way. This was the unfortunate circumstance for a Beaumont mother whose children were injured following a car accident with a driver she claims was at fault.
Alleged Negligence
The mother filed a lawsuit with the Jefferson County District Court on behalf of her three children whom she claims were injured in an accident caused by a negligent driver. According to the plaintiff, in early December of 2015, she was traveling eastbound on Blanchette Street when the defendant ran a red light while traveling northbound on Fourth Street.
The defendant struck the plaintiff’s vehicle, causing injuries to the three children in their necks, backs and bodies in general. The lawsuit is requesting monetary damages between $200,000 and $1 million along with medical expenses incurred in the past and those expected in the future.
