LA SALLE COUNTY, TX – One man was left critically injured when the cargo tanker he was driving blew a front tire and the vehicle rolled over several times. The accident happened November 4 at around 10 a.m. on I-35 about 100 miles south of San Antonio.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the driver was traveling south on I-35 near mile marker 45 when the front left tire blew out causing the vehicle to skid toward the median. DPS says the violent rollover caused the tractor to detach from the cargo tank, leaving parts of the vehicle scattered on both the north and southbound lanes of I-35.

The driver was rescued from the cab by Encinal Police officers, with the assistance of an off-duty firefighter who was passing by during the time of the crash. The driver, identified only as a male in his mid-30s, was transported to a San Antonio area hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported. DPS is investigating what caused the left front tire to fail.

Tire failure and blowouts

Tire failure/blowout accidents are considered especially dangerous, because they often happen when a vehicle is traveling at highway speeds. Blowouts, particularly those in the front tires, often lead to vehicle rollovers. As a result, injuries can be catastrophic.

According to NASS-CDS (National Automotive Sampling System-Crashworthiness Data System), tire blowouts cause a much higher percentage of rollover accidents (4.81%) than non-rollover crashes (0.28%).

It’s important for someone who suffered an injury because of a tire defect to hire a lawyer who has experience handling product defect cases against tire manufacturers. The J. Gonzalez Law Firm has a history of handling these types of product cases, and its personal injury attorneys have the experience necessary to hold the tire manufacturers responsible for their defective tires.

Why would you need a lawyer?

Unfortunately, many insurance company adjusters today can be highly manipulative. They are in the business of saving their clients’ money, and the main way they do that is by denying valid claims or getting injured people to accept far less for their injuries than they deserve.

The adjuster’s job is to get you to accept as little money as possible in exchange for signing a release. They will also tell you that you don’t need an attorney.

If you should find yourself in a situation where you have been injured by the negligence of someone else, and someone is trying to get you to take a quick settlement, don’t do it. Instead, call the J. Gonzalez Law Firm. The experienced personal injury attorneys on staff know the tricks and games of the insurance adjusters and will fight to protect your rights.
