Shares Safe Driving Tips

The J. Gonzalez Law Firm has recovered tens of millions of dollars for people who were injured on the road due to someone else’s negligence. As much as we love helping our clients put their lives back together, we would much rather help them avoid the trauma of a car accident.

One of the best pieces of safe-driving advice we know is to begin your trip earlier than you need to. Whether it’s for your morning commute or a long vacation drive, leaving early minimizes the risk of having a traffic accident.

Here’s why:

Leaving early for work helps you avoid rush-hour traffic (typically 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). By leaving earlier than normal, you avoid high traffic volume, and the stress, frustration, and aggressive driving behaviors that go with it. Fewer encounters with other vehicles and drivers means lesser chances of being in a crash.

Driving in heavy traffic can also lead to fatigue, especially if you’re already tired. Leaving early allows for a calmer commute, reducing the chance of accidents.

With more time to get to your destination, you’ll be less likely to feel rushed and engage in risky behaviors like speeding, tailgating, or running red lights. You’ll also have more time to take a detour if you encounter an unexpected delay such as road repairs or a road closure due to a traffic accident.

Of course there is no sure-fire way to avoid a traffic accident in your entire life. You can be the safest driver in the world, but all it takes is an aggressive or impaired driver to ruin your day.
