Two dead, three injured in Harlingen accident

HARLINGEN — Two people died and three others were injured in a January 20 multiple-vehicle accident, according to Harlingen police.
The report states that the four-vehicle crash involved a semi-truck and three cars. It happened about 2:20 p.m. on FM 106 near the Port of Harlingen. According to police, the driver of a commercial tractor-trailer traveling east on FM 106 lost control of the vehicle causing it to jack-knife in the middle of the road.
Three vehicles then crashed into the semi as it was blocking the roadway. The dead are identified as 28-year-old Angela Galicia, and 65-year-old Jesus Trevino. The unidentified injured victims were last reported to be undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The semi driver, 25-year-old Juan Jose Bazaldua-Sanchez, was arrested January 23 on two counts of manslaughter and transported to the Harlingen city jail. Bazaldua-Sanchez’s bond was set at $68,000.
