6 Signs You’re Dealing With A Bad Car Accident Lawyer
Posted on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at 1:41 am
Dealing with a bad car accident lawyer after a car crash can be one of the most stress-inducing experiences you will ever experience. You may be unable to earn a fair settlement, feel unheard, and, ultimately, have your finances hurt.
When you’ve been involved in a catastrophic car accident, you want a trustworthy, dependable, and experienced car accident lawyer to represent you — like those found at J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys.
In order to avoid bad car accident lawyers, we have listed six signs to look out for:
1.Problems with Staff
One of the most important signs to look out for when it comes to a bad car accident lawyer is their employees and office environment. Signs that a lawyer is having issues with their staff include:
-
- The office is empty or not busy
- Phones are going unanswered
- No one attends to you right away
- They are understaffed and unmotivated
- The lawyer does not treat their staff well
2.Poor Communication
Communication is key in establishing a good relationship between a client and their personal injury lawyer. Clients want to feel like they are being attended to, listened to, and treated justly.
Surefire signs that a car accident lawyer has poor communication skills include:
-
- They do not discuss charges with you ahead of time
- The car accident lawyer is inattentive and seems distracted
- They fail to disclose important details about their services
- They fail to let you know about important dates, such as court dates
- They do not provide a dependable line of communication, whether it is through phone, email, or other means
3.Lack of Experience
A good car accident lawyer has dealt with similar claims and should make you feel assured of the responsibilities that they handle. A sign that a car accident lawyer is inexperienced is if they lack understanding of your type of claim.
Don’t be afraid to ask the following questions during your first consultation:
-
- What are your qualifications?
- How long should I expect my case to take?
- Am I entitled to compensation? What types?
- Have you worked with other clients on similar cases?
4.Unprofessional and Careless
You want to work with a car accident lawyer that cares about you and gains your trust. If a car accident lawyer behaves in an unprofessional or incompassionate manner, then they are not doing their job well.
A few tell-tale signs that your car accident lawyer lacks any care for you and your case are:
-
- They give you a bad attitude
- They act impatient, annoyed, and inattentive
- They miss or show up late to consultations/meetings
- They ignore, forget, or fail to return your calls
- They fail to empathize with your current situation
- They fail to file the necessary paperwork for your case
- They don’t take the time to work on your case at all
- They make you wait longer than the appointment time
5.Consultation Is Not Free
At J.Gonzalez Injury Attorneys, you can call at any time and book your consultation without worrying about having to spend a single penny. Most, but not all, car accident lawyers offer a free initial consultation.
This is typically an act of good faith, a way to establish trust, and learn more about their services.
6.No Referrals or Bad Reviews
A car accident lawyer with a good reputation usually has clients who vouch for them through word of mouth or online reviews. If a car accident lawyer lacks any reviews or receives bad reviews online, it is best to steer clear of them!

5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Represent Yourself In A Personal Injury Claim
Posted on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at 9:13 pm
If you were in an accident that resulted in a serious personal injury, you may feel stressed about the hospital visits, bills, and insurance costs.
You may wish to pursue justice against the person or company responsible for your accident, file a personal injury claim, and represent yourself to, hopefully, save money. Unfortunately, representing yourself in a personal injury claim can have disastrous results.
J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys would like to advise you against self-representation with these five key reasons.
1.Your Case May or May Not Be Worth Pursuing
Your personal injury lawyers in Brownsville will help you distinguish whether your personal injury case is worth your time and effort.
During your first consultation, we will go over a few factors, such as the extent of your injuries, whether we will need to obtain a court order, insurance coverage details for you and the person you are filing the claim against, and other specifics to determine the strength and necessity of filing a claim.
2.Dealing With Paperwork
Avoid the stress of dealing with paperwork, and let us take the burden off your shoulders.
J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys will take care of all the necessary paperwork in a timely and efficient manner! We have the skills necessary to decipher through legal and medical terminology and procedures.
3.Lack of Support
Working alone without the necessary support of a legal team will damage your ability to receive the justice you deserve.
Personal injury lawyers usually work with you and a particular team of investigators to gather as much evidence as needed to help build a solid personal injury case.
4.Emotions May Take Control
If you represent yourself, insurance companies may take advantage by offering lower compensation than you deserve. When this is the case, you may begin to feel insulted, angry, or desperate to take the offered amount.
Personal injury lawyers are trained to keep their emotional state in balance in court, making logical decisions to benefit the client.
5.Lack of Knowledge and Experience
Your lack of knowledge and experience in personal injury law is detrimental to your personal injury claim. Instead of representing yourself, trust J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys! #TopLawyerRGV #PersonalInjuryLawyer #RGV Click To TweetOur personal injury lawyers in Brownsville have the knowledge and education necessary to deal with various factors that will impact the outcome of your personal injury claim.
These factors include:
-
- Jury Verdicts – A poor jury verdict may be the probable outcome if you decide to represent yourself in court. To obtain a favorable verdict to you receiving rightful compensation, you will need a detailed legal strategy.
- Other Lawyers – Working with other lawyers is necessary when investigating your case. Investigation requires you to know about depositions, requests for admission, and interrogatories, and more.
- Insurance Companies – You may be unaware of the tactics that insurance companies use to keep you from receiving the compensation you deserve.
- Negotiating Settlements – Settlements are a probable outcome over lengthy trials in a personal injury case. A personal injury lawyer will help negotiate a settlement and avoid any lowball offers.
- Dispute Resolution Methods – A personal injury lawyer will understand the best way to help resolve your claim to avoid a long and messy trial, such as choosing between mediation or arbitration.

Semi and Car Involved in Wreck in Amarillo
Posted on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 4:24 am
On the afternoon of Friday, October 8, a semi-truck and car were involved in a crash in Amarillo, Texas.
More Details
According to Amarillo police, the incident occurred between Coulter and Soncy on I-40. The car ended up lodged underneath the end of the crashed semi-truck.
Traffic was steered away from I-40 throughout the afternoon as authorities worked to clear debris.
No other information has been reported about the incident.
Statistics To Remember About Semi-Trucks
When we think about motor vehicle accidents, we tend to think about accidents involving cars or pickup trucks. However, if we take a closer look at all the vehicles around us, we will notice the giants of the road — semi-trucks.
Currently, there are over 2 million semi-trucks and 5.6 million semi-trailers throughout the United States. Often, these giant vehicles transport goods and services to many of our businesses around the nation.
Vital statistics to note about semi-trucks include:
- Weigh about 20 to 30 times more than cars or pickup trucks
- Exhaustion and distraction are two significant contributors to crashes for semi-truck drivers
In 2020:
- About 513 semi-truck accidents were fatal in the state of Texas
- About 581 people died in accidents involving a semi-truck
- About 1,245 serious injuries were considered severe after an accident
Top Reasons For Semi-Truck Accidents
One of the unfortunate reasons why semi-truck accidents occur includes blind spots. Semi-trucks have 4 major blind spots, or “no-zones.” Behind, left, right, and in front of the semi-truck. Be aware of these to best maneuver… Click To TweetBeing aware of your fellow semi-truck drivers on the road is essential to avoid a collision. Some of the top reasons why semi-truck accidents in Texas occur are:
- Speeding – Many collisions are caused when drivers fail to slow down or speed on our roadways.
- Exhaustion – Fatigue, exhaustion, and sleepiness are common in semi-truck drivers due to the long hours they work.
- Distractions – Driver inattention is a contributor to semi-truck accidents. Drivers should avoid cell phone use, eating, playing loud music, or doing anything to limit their awareness on the road.
- Violations – Often, semi-truck drivers must drive a set amount of hours. Some drivers are also required to inspect their vehicles often for any issues. Failure to follow these rules may result in an accident.
- Blind spots – It’s recommended to avoid driving too close to a semi-truck. Avoid driving right under the cab mirror on the semi-truck’s left and right sides, as well as directly behind or in front of it. The semi-truck driver won’t see the other drivers and may bump or crash into them.
- Failing to yield right of way – Giving the right of way is an important rule to keep in mind for all vehicles. Failure to do so may result in catastrophic accidents on the road.

While the statistics on semi-truck accidents in Texas may be staggering, it’s important to remain knowledgeable about the reasons why they occur so often. This awareness may be the difference between avoiding a collision altogether or experiencing a traumatic collision with a semi-truck.

7 Tips to Remember While Driving Through Foggy Weather
Posted on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021 at 4:59 pm
There may be times when we experience foggy weather while we’re out and about on our Texas roads. Fog can make it difficult to see while driving, reducing the visibility of what’s in front and around you. To avoid any accidents on the road, your Brownsville car accident lawyer at J. Gonzalez Injury Attorney would like to share 7 tips to help you drive safely during foggy weather:
How To Keep Safe in Foggy Weather
1. Wait It Out
If it’s possible to wait out the foggy weather, consider staying home until the coast is clear. Usually, your local National Weather Service will alert you of weather conditions and updates throughout the day. Foggy weather typically lifts throughout the late morning or afternoon. Keeping as many people off the road during this weather is ideal. However, we understand that this may not be an option for most drivers commuting to work.
2. Defrost
Use your windshield wipers and defroster to help with visibility while on the road. If the windshield is cloudy, try opening the side window slightly and turn the defroster to a higher speed. You can also use your AC to help clear the windows.
3. Slow down
It is imperative to slow down and increase your following distance between you and other drivers around you.
Are you dealing with foggy weather? Slow down! Many car accidents occur during foggy weather because of a lack of visibility and drivers refusing to slow down. via @TopLawyerRGV #FoggyWeather #DrivingTip #CarAccidentLawyer Click To Tweet4. Use Low-Beam Lights
Use fog lights and low-beam lights while on the road. Do not use high beams, as they will reflect off the fog and cause a white wall effect. If needed, turn on your hazard lights for additional visibility in dense fog.
5. Emergency Stops
If you cannot see anything in front of you, the best thing to do is stop on the side of the road, preferably at a rest area or truck stop, and turn on your hazard lights/flashers and emergency brake. If you continue driving, be aware of anyone else who has stopped on the side of the road.
6. Avoid Changing or Passing
Do not change lanes or try to pass other drivers in front of you. The best thing to do is to stay in your lane and keep a greater distance between you and those around you.
7. Stay Alert
Foggy weather makes it difficult to gauge how slow or fast other drivers are going around you. It’s best to be mindful and respectful of any slow-moving vehicles. Keep a slow and steady pace while driving and watch out for any potential car accidents up ahead.
Don’t Let Foggy Weather Get You Down
Driving carefully during adverse weather is important to keep everyone safe on the road. However, despite any precautions you take, maneuvering your vehicle during foggy weather may still lead to an unfortunate accident. But do not worry because your car accident lawyers in Brownsville will help you begin your healing journey!
If you or a loved one were involved in a car accident during foggy weather, you may be entitled to compensation. Do not hesitate to reach out to your J.Gonzalez Injury Attorneys today!
